London in two weeks and then Pack to Prague for a couple of nights in February. After that I am spending some time with a friend in Jersey (the channel island, not the state) and then hopefully going to Greece, Croatia, and Montengro this summer. Really looking forward to that trip. A group of us found a reasonably priced yacht that we want to rent and bum around in. Sounds like fun anyway. Other than that, I am pretty much stuck in Wales working on a book and hopefully my dissertation next fall.

Hi Steven..
I am about to embark on a "road trip" with a group of VT'ers, namely:
Rusket, Bradbrown, Cachaseiro and Razmatac and alot of others along the way.
I will cover Finland (maybe), Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Poland and then finally back to London for the enormous VT meet there on 21st.
All this in 10 days for me... phew.

Ireland at some point in the year definitely, but the rest I have not planned. I hope spend this year just going wherever the fancy takes me!

Happy travels to you.

June

Montenegro takes the prize for the most exotic destination among vters so far.

But my itineraries are not so bad:

Tomorrow I leave for Ecuador. First we visit the Amazon and then the Galapagos.

In late June we will travel to Romania.

In December we will see Patagonia including Tiera Del Fuego and the tremendous Andean national parks in Argentina and Chile.

The Galapagos - I'm so envious of anyone going there. It's been a long time on top of my wish list. I need to get more proactive!!!

I"ll be in Las Vegas first week in Feb.-My first time there.
Another low budget Ski/camping trip in west virginia in march.
Portland Oregon for fourth of July
Hopefully a couple weeks in Italy in the fall
And 3 or 4 long weekends on the outer Banks of North Carolina spaced over the year.
Maybe a big weekend music festival like Bonaroo or the all-good festival so I can dance the wombat with the deadheads and hippies.
Now.... that's what I have planned.....Let's see if I can pull it off.I've got negative hours of Vacation time on my paystub right now.I've got some older relatives in poor health and If I don't get some home repairs done the wife says I'm grounded.....It's going to be a busy year-CR

32 days is not that hard to pull off. If you can convince your boss to let you work a longer day and then instead of paying you time and a half for overtime give you the hours as vacation time at regular rate. so...32 daysx 8 hour day=256 hours 5 day work week 32 days=6 weeks 2 days 256 hours needed over 45.6 work weeks=5.6 hours overtime a week-Thats only about an extra hour a day
Now I get 80 hours a year vacation time so that's only about 4 extra hours a week for me.Now of course this won't work if you are salaried but it works for me.-and I've never missed a paycheck. you can see I've thought this out-

Here in NZ the legal entitlement is only 15 days plus statutory holidays - thats being raised to 20 next year. But I have an understanding boss (and I refused to take the job before pointing out the cr@ppy annual leave just wasn't going to do me anygood with family in the UK). And as long as I get my job done, my time off isn't too much of an issue.

We are more spur of the moment types, but are still planning DC in summer or fall and of course our many road trips (still hoping for route 66 this year). Also planning a little jaunt to Ceazars Palace with sis and some friends around April. No over seas plans for this year, but would like to do a second honeymoon to Canada. Alaska for two weeks this summer, too. Almost forgot that one :)
