Hello,
I'm off to Tallinn on the 12th for a short break,I am also going to helsinki for two nights on the 15th.I have been researching the ferry crossings available on the net and found three different companies that offer services to and from estonia. Is there any difference between them?Is there one particular company that anyone would reccomend and do I need to book in advance? Many thanks kids

Hi,

strange you got no replies here yet from the locals, but let me try - I was on a Silja line boat from Tallinn to Rostock some years ago, which also does the Helsinki-Tallinn leg. Heard for this short distance you don't really need to book in advance, as it is a short leg with frequent sailings. The ferries here operate more or less like a bus/train, so there should not be that much difference between the companies either.
As you are travelling now, have a look at the meetings and events section here on VT: there is a meeting in Helsinki on the 15th and one in Tallinn on the 16th, so maybe a nice chance to meet up with some fellow travellers?

Have a nice trip!
P.
