Just looking for a nice hotel within walking distance of restaurants and bars...and also wondering if it would be better to book ahead or just show up??
We are planning on driving and also wondering if parking will be a major problem? Any good recommendations for what to do in Arnhen would be appreciated. We are planning on being there around the 25th of January.

Parking at midtown Arnhem is payed parking. There are a couple of parking garages; see: http://www.arnhem.nl/sites/internet_nieuw/wonen_leven/leven_in_de_stad/verkeer/parkeren/p_garages_arnhem_centrum

Sorry for my late reply, but Marcel (thank's!) already appointed my pages of Arnhem on which you can find some hotel-tips.

Haarhuis is somewhat overcharged, but a good centrally located hotel (a minutes walk from both central station and the shoppingcentre (incl. night life centre: Korenmarkt).

Other options are Hotel "Old Dutch" and the NH Rijnhotel.
