RE: BICYCLING FUESSEN TO OBERAMMERGAU Posted: Mon January 2, 2006 12:58 AM UTC
Some general information:

Here a map

Füssen is rather in the mid of this map.
Oberammergau is where you can read Ammer-Amper-Radw(eg) right from Füssen, directly at the end (of this part) of the map.
Thus you follow the Bodensee-Königssee-Radweg eastbound (22 km + 7 km + 3 km) and than you follow the Ammer-Amper-Radweg southbound (9 km) to Oberammergau.
This map is available in printed form for free.

But I guess shipping is only free to the countries in the drop-down list.
In your case you have to give "USA" in the field "anderes Land" (other country) and see what will happen.
This map shows however only the far distance bicycle routes. Not the (many) local and regional ones. You can buy in Füssen much more detailed maps.
In this region bicycle transport on local trains is free.
Map of this region (page 1) which shows the railroads in this region (green = bicycle transport is free).

Between Füssen and Oberammergau you'll be however mostlikely faster by bicycle than to go by train via Geltendorf (a really huge detour). But generally the combination bicycle + train is a nice things - allows you to go twice as far and avoids that you have to ride the same route back by bicycle.
