Prince Edward Island PEI for a Honeymoon in April?
Posted: Sun January 1, 2006 09:35 PM UTC
How's PEI (Charlottetown) for a honeymoon in early April?

We don't like big crowds BUT we don't want to visit a town that's dead or mostly closed in the off-season (i.e. like the Jersey Shore).

We're coming from northern PA-- about 1 days drive. Our main goal is to find a unique romantic getaway where we can RELAX after all the crazy wedding preparations. And while we're there, do some exploring and get an appreciation of the area. We'll be there 4 or 5 nights.

Our expectation would be that some tours would be running (lighthouses?) and some evening entertainment available.

We'll be in Quebec City in January so we're not strangers to the cold, but at the same time we don't want to be bundled up in hats and gloves. I'm picturing mid-30's or warmer during the days, typically. Is that about right?

The Great George Inns look VERY nice. Any other recommendations for PEI newlyweds in April?

Any comments or suggestions appreciated.
Thanks!

...Jim.

Hi
PEI is very damp and cold in April usually . The tourist season for PEI is pretty much the summer months ...for things like lobster, and beaches etc. Pretty dead in April.
If you are thinking of Atlantic Canada , I think Halifax NS would be alot more fun. We have lots of restaurants and music and a great Historic waterfront area .Halifax is much more lively and there are lots of neat little Inns and small Hotels all around the province. Here's a link you might find helpful.http://www.nsinns.com/RomancePackages.htm

Goos luck

April is a risky month anywhere in the Maritimes. PEI without the sun and good weather may not have too much to offer, bigger place like Halifax has more options if the weather turns bad. PEI is a must in July-August!!!

i'd recommend seeing pei during the summer.
as mentioned, halifax would be a better choice. the waverley inn is very nice and within walking distance of many things. maybe a couple of nights there and then a couple along the coast somewhere at a romantic b&b.

I went to PEI in April a couple of years ago...we had great weather in that it was sunny, but it was a bit chilly...probably between 5 and 10 celcius. Also, pretty much all tourist places are closed. This was fine for us, since we really just wanted to drive around the island for a couple of days and we got great deals on accomodation and did not have to deal with tourists...but if you want stuff to do, PEI is definately a summer destination...sorry!
