Livigno How to get from Milan to Livigno.
Posted: Sat December 31, 2005 01:47 PM UTC
Hi!
me and my friend are planning a holiday to livigno.
we are arriving at the airport of milan in the 24th of march.
Will it still be snowwy in that period in livigno?
the info we got is that we have to get a bus from the airport of milan to milano centrale, the train station, and then get a ticket to tirano. From tirano we get a bus to bormia and then another bus to livigno?
how much will this approximatley cost us? Will there be gauranteed space and if not, every what time does a bus leave? and also then will there be transport back from livigno to bormia... ecc.... I mean the same route the other way round. Thx for your help!
Happy new year

www.busperego.com is the site of the bus company that connect Milano via Bormio to S. Caterina Valfurva ("linea gran turismo")
You can take the bus in Milan and, via Bormio, to arrive to Livigno directly.
The time it takes is about 6 hours and 30'. But there is only one ride per day at 7.15 am.
The tickets must be booked in advance. (I have no idea of the cost)
On the site there is the schedule valid to 8th Jan 2006. So it will better if you ask them on the page "Contatti" of their web site.
THe same company connect Bormio to Tirano, and to Lignano on regular basis ("Linea ordinaria").
Ciao.
Marco

What time are you arriving in Milan & which airport is it? because if you are not at Milan Central station by 12am you will not make it to Livigno with public transport.

Hi, I did the same journey last year and will do it again in March 06. There is usually snow til the end of April but whether it snows is another question. I cant remember how much it costs but think it was about €30. Trains from central station dept. @ 06.15/ 08.15/ 09.15 and the last one you can get to make the bus connection all the way to Livigno is 12.15. After this you will only be able to reach Bormio. But you could get a taxi or spent the night if your stuck (my friend paid €40 for single on-suite). Try book your train ticket on-line as q's can be long, but I dont think you'll have a problem with space. Going back I know that the bus leaves Livigno (San Rocco Church) at 9.45 am, then take train again and it gets into Milan around 15.30. ( see timetable, its 2003 but you can get number/email and check with company www.interaplen.it/eng). Although it all sounds a bit of hassle, its actuallly fine when you do it and I enjoyed it.. beats listening to a travel rep any day!

Does this service also operate from Innsbruk airport, as we travelled from Gatwick to Innsbruk 2 years ago and then a bus which was organised via the travel agency picked us up and dropped us right into Livigno, it was only a couple of hours, whereas it take 5-6 hrs from Bergam.
