Klagenfurt Travel Forum

My daughter will be studying at the University of Klagenfurt and my husband and I will be traveling to Klagenfurt with her at the end of January. The tourism office recommended Pension Zlami-Holzer. Can anyone tell me anything about this place or could you recommend others? We will be traveling into Klagenfurt by train and do not plan on renting a car, as we have heard that public transportation is very good there. Any help would be appreciated. We will be arriving on 27 January.

I'm not familiar with that pension. However there is a youth hostel about 2 blocks from the University. There are also several bus stops nearby that will take you into the city. From there you can get the train or the airport. There's a good pizza place by the University "UNI Pizzeria" as well as cafe' book store, banks, wine shop, student cafeteria, the lake is a bout a 7 minute walk from there. there's also the "lendkanal" which is one of the old ways into the city which you can walk to the city by (20min)bikes are readily available and yes used in winter time. We've had a lot of snow so far this season and going by car would be a chore. If you want more specifics......ask. There's really so much to do here...sometimes with a little effort. You may also try the Austro-American Society depending on how long your daughter will be staying.
