Ko Samet New Year's Eve
Posted: Tue December 27, 2005 03:05 AM UTC
Hey, I've never been to Samet but will be going for New Years at the end of the week. I was just wondering if I need to book in advance or if there will be hundreds of resorts waiting to bombard me with offers. Thanks!

Christmas and New Year's Eve week is the busiest week of the year in Thailand, so be sure you have reservations. There are NOT "hundreds" of resorts there, it's not like Samui. If you want to take a chance and arrive without a room, be sure to take an early morning bus (assuming you're starting out in Bangkok) from Ekamai Bus Terminal so you have much of the day ahead of you to find a room. When you get off the ferry you might be offered a room, or you can rent a motorscooter and go looking for yourself. Good Luck and have a great time.

Thanks for the help I will make a reservation today! And I'm VERY happy to hear that Samet isn't like Samui, hopefully it's closer to Phi Phi.

Yes it will be packed, suggest you get onto it quick, try www.beachsiam.com/koh_samet.html , they should get back to you fast as local, try Saikaew Villa, about $25-30, though if you are looking for lower budget many of the small places you might not find, but if you need to search for Koh Samet island accommodation try Yahoo Thailand.
