| Zermatt | Parking & Luggage security Posted: Sun December 25, 2005 07:43 PM UTC
I found the parking advice really helpful. However, we plan to leave Zermatt and go to San Moritz taking the Gracier Express. We to leave our rented car with the luggage in it in a secure parking place. Would it be safe to leave our luggage in the car?
Thanks ZM |

It´s as safe or unsafe as everywhere in the world. Thieves are everywhere.
I would only do it, if you can not see the luggage from outside. Else if, better look for a place to store it in (as in the train station or so).

The Täsch parking is probably one of the safest anywhere. Still, I would suggest that you stay in a hotel in Brig (see my VT travel page). From Brig, you do 1-day trip(s) to Zermatt. After your stay, you can leave both car and luggage at the hotel, pay a nominal fee for the parking, then go on the Glacier Express from Brig to St-Moritz and back. Brig is centrally located for other trips, skiing, direct train to Geneva, Zurich or Milan (via Gallarate) airports.
