RE: RE: NEW YEARS EVE Posted: Sat December 24, 2005 04:39 PM UTC
I read in the news that the caravan will arrive in Portimão at 11:00 on 12/31th. They will then go to the Parque de Assistência in Comércio e Turismo dock. I do not know where this dock is, but I assume it's on the river Arade bank (river bank of about 2 km, from Portimão's downtown to Praia da Rocha beach).
On the next day, at 6:00 AM, the caravan departs from Portimão's riverfront towards Spain, then Africa.
I also read that there will be a NE's eve in a tent on Praia da Rocha (the broad beach next to Portimão).
Portimão is a small town. There will be signs of the Dakar everywhere.
Although the caran arrives and leaves Portimão, the real periods with competition will be before in Alentejo (between Lisbon and the Algarve) and on the interior of the Algarve after leaving Portimão. I read that the competition period of the 2nd stage begins in Silves.
By the way, "Hola Beaunes Dias" is wrong (it also sounds Spanish). You should say in Portuguese "Olá, bons dias"
