Want something on the beach, fairly close to city center and other activities, transportation, etc. Plan to spend most of my time relaxing and not doing a whole lot, just enjoying the day to day rhythm of the island. I am a single traveler on a budget and can't afford more than 75 EU tops. Thanks for you help.

Hi.
I'm sure you'll have a great time in Naxos - it was my favourite island on a recent Greek island hopping trip. It's the ideal place to kick back on a beach and do nothing! I can highly recommend the Agios Prokopios Hotel in the beach resort of Agios Prokopios. It is a 2 minute walk to the best beach in the whole of the Cyclades (in my humble opinion) and will fall well within your budget (I paid just 18 Euros a night in late September by booking through www.hostelbookers.com). There is not a lot of accomodation on Ag.Georgios beach close to Naxos town, it's a noisy position anyway. No need to pay anything like 75 € , decent rooms are around the 25 € a night. Rooms/small hotels are scattered around the town, just a matter of looking around and bargaining for the price. Early October means most hotels will be pretty empty thus putting you in a good bargaining position. The bus station is close to the ferry quay and there are services to most places on the island.

there are a lot of accomadtion just of Ag.Georgios beach within a couple of minutes walking distance i stay there every year and dont find it noisy at all.

Naxos is one of the less expensive islands, so 75 Euros will buy a LOT of hotel there. I had a very good hotel right across from the beach for just 25 Euros a couple years ago. Have a look at my Naxos travel tips for more information. I can't imagine that you'd have to spend more than 40 Euros for one of the best rooms in town there.
