| Ozamis City | Safety in Ozamiz Posted: Tue December 13, 2005 07:47 PM UTC
Hey ya'll! I'm planning on visiting Ozamiz in February to meet this wonderful young lady whom I believe I might marry one day. Needless to say I have never been there and despite what I've heard from family and friends about the safety of foreigners, specifically US citizens (even military, if applicable), I wanted to ask all of you out there for your insight. For any replies, may I ask that you send a copy to rikku478@yahoo.com as well, please? Thanks in advance to anyone for your time and reply.

hi there,
Surprisingly enough I am from Ozamiz too, just came back from Germany. If you will be accompanied by this woman you are visiting then I think you are safe in the City. Just be careful with your belongings since robbery is common in the city. What hotel are you booked? Please be sure to rent a safety deposit box for your valuables then you will be fine. I cant say that it is very safe, of course in any place in the Philippines it is a must for foreigners to be extra careful. Do you still have questions? Please feel free to write. I will help in any way possible.

hi,
I know how you feel because that's exactly my first impression of Ozamiz before I visit the place...mainly because of what I heard from the news... but after I visited the place last october it really changed all my pre-notions...Ozamiz is safe enough to visit..whether your a foreigner or a Filipino...the place is clean and the people are very friendly. Accomodation is very good too...I would highly recommend that you stay at Royal Garden Hotel as it is the safest and cleanest hotel so far in the city...well good luck this february..i hope you'll meet the girl you've been searching for...=)
