| Udon Thani | crossing friendship bridge Posted: Tue December 13, 2005 05:55 PM UTC
hi,
just wondering if anyone has crossed into Laos by flying into UT, and crossing the friendship bridge. also am wondering, if I arrive in this town on a flight from AirAsia instead of Thai International, if I'll be able to get the bus across...or if I will be stuck in the town. (I understand that the buses correspond with the Thai Air's flights. Any advice? Thanks in advance. |

Hi there,
I flew Air Asia and crossed the friendship bridge into Laos. I wrote a tip on it and you can check it out. http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/6e4fe/135bd7/9/ Getting from the airport to the bus terminal in Udon Thani is not in the tip though. From the airport you can get a taxi (25 minutes/200 baht) Hope this helps :-) Craig

You fly into Udon and get to old bus station in center of city and take friendship bus toLaos. The bus will stop at thai immigration and you have to get off and exit thailand and then back on the bus and enter laos which cost about 30.00. If you can get a flight direct into Vietianne you are better off. Bus only cost a couple of dollars and they take your passport number and name and will help you. They will not help you get through Laos immigration which is a pain in the ass. Have some passport photos(2) and save a couple of dollars. Phil
