| Xiamen | Travelling on business - what to see? Posted: Fri December 9, 2005 07:47 PM UTC
Hi,
I will shortly be travelling to Xiamen on business for a week or so. I would like to know what would be interesting to see while staying there. I have an idea of stopping in Beijing on my way home and I would also like to see the great wall of China but I'm not sure if it is possible at all to manage in such a short time. I would also like some tips on Chinese culture, what to be aware of being from Europe and if there are customs one should pay extra attention to. Regards, Angelika |

How much free time will you have in Xiamen? Can you do a day trip or weekend excursion? Nearby Quanzhou is an interesting place to visit.
You can see the Great Wall of China while visiting Beijing. As a European, you should be aware that noodles were invented in China. Your hosts will likely remind you of this fact by mentioning the obligatory Marco Polo anecdote over lunch.

How much time do you have in Beijing? I'd recommend at least 3 full days, that's the absolute minimum time.
