Trier Travel Forum

I have been planning to go to Belgium for Xmas Market on Sat 10th Dec but ive heard a few stories that have put me off and have been told to try Trier Market. Can anybody tell me if it is worth going to and what will I expect to find. I will be driving over and would expect to arrive apx 11am. Any quick homest repsonses would be greatfull to plan my day.

Trier should be one of the best german xmas markets, I´ve been told too. Haven´t been there by now, but want to go. You can find any informations (in english), pictures, even a video on www.trierer-weihnachtsmarkt.de .

I love Trier as a city - can't tell you about the Christmas market. What put you off Belgium and which one were you planning on there?

Thanks for both replies. I was planning on Brugge Market but been told majority of stalls are food etc I want to see something different and special. if I had know before hand id of flown to Salzburg for the Xmas shop there

Aha. You can drive to the Christmas shop in York :)

If you are coming south from Belgium I would suggest swinging through Mastrict to Vaulkenburg's underground Christmas Market, then to Aachen (very nice market this year), south to Manschau (sp?), then take the road to Pruem and get on the A60 south, take the Bitburg turn (Bitburg has a small but very nice market) on the B52 to Trier. They are right...you will enjoy the Trier Market very much.
