Hotel Central

I'm staying in Carcassonne for a night in June and am considering using this hotel as it appears to be fairly central & good value. I've already tried several other hotels (including the Best Western & Mercure) but they are booked out for the date I need. Has anybody ever stayed in this hotel & if so would you recommend it?

Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Aoife

Check out http://www.carcassonne.fr/ - practical information - accomodation. You will get a list of the hotels in the city, with info and location. The hotel you are talking about is located in the "modern" city.

I was there in February - basically you have the medieval city (very VERY nice, but in summer probably overloaded with tourists). If you want a magnificent view on the walls and towers, you should be over there somewhere.

Across the bridge is the "modern" town. Also charming, but since you only have one night to spend ...

From the bridges to the medieval city is about 10 minutes walk (but climbing a bit - the old city is on a hill !). From the airport to the city is about 15 minutes by taxi (20 euros, if I remember correctly, but I shared with three other people).

We stayed at hotel "espace cité" (nr. 17 on the site), which was just being renovated. The rooms are basic but clean, but how much fuzz can you want for one night? :)

Enjoy & don't forget your camera! I have a lot of pics from Carcassonne, but unfortunately not scanned yet. I might be able to put some info up on my page in a month or so...

Try to stay within the walled city. We stayed at the Hotel des trois puits and really enjoyed it.
