Bus to f Udon Thani to Vientienne

Can anyone tell me how often the buses run. We're flying to Udon Thani and then busing to Vientienne. Coming back we have a flight booked to Phuket via Bangkok at 1PM ....I'm hoping the morniing will give us lots of time to catch our flight??

Here 's the time table for bus from Udon - Vientaine and return 're also the same time. - 07.00,09.30,15.00,17.00 Price 's around 80-100 Bahts and takes about 2 hours.

Didn't know there were bus Udon to Vte. Thought it was to Nong Khai and then tuk tuk to border.
If you are several and do not want to loose too much time, maybe can be a good idea to take a taxi from Udon airport to the border.

hi anita...

i can't remember the time buses leave udon for vt, but there will be an airport coach leaving for nong khai from the airport about 30 mins after you plane lands... this air-cond coach will stop at the thailand/laos border's friendship bridge where after clearing thai custom/immigration, you can take a shuttle bus across the bridge to the lao side for lao custom/immigration clearance... there are taxis waiting after immigration to take you to vt...

this arrangement is much more convenient that having to go to udon bus station and wait for the udon-vt bus... shuttle bus across the bridge is probably every 10 mins... check my nong khai page...

Thanks for your help and sorry for the delay . I'm getting caught in the Christmas rush already and I haven't been on the site in a while. My concern with the bus is getting back in time to catch our flight on Nok air ...I already booked it .

What do you think about the idea of staying a night in Udon Tani and only one night in Vientienne. Do you think that would be a good plan. Are there nice hotels in Udon Tani.
