| Tashkent | Moving to Tashkent Posted: Mon November 28, 2005 08:59 AM UTC
I am an american girl, moving to tashkent with my boyfriend, who I met in korea. I am curious about the difference of life for a woman in Uzbekistan, from american. (Tashkent in particular) I know only what I can find on basic sites online, and I know the friends I have here are holding some things back from me.
I also need a way to contact americans in uzbekistan, via chat or email, can anyone help? |

Wow, thanks for the information, the first site, you were right, it was a shock. I know about the human trafficing but not the bride theft, I appreciate the warning.
No my boyfriend is Uzbek, not Korean, he was here earning money to take home with him, and lucky him, he met me, lol. So where are you now? Are you in Uzbekistan? I know its going to be a huge change, thats why I am trying to get contact with some americans in Uzbekistan to give me the inside scoop from an american point of view before traveling. Your reply was very informitive, and helped a lot, so thank you. Tara

hey how you doing, i was born in Uzbekistan, Tashkent, i'm half russian and half Uzbek, i think you not gonna like moving to another country cuz, u an american and if you'll go there everything is different, people don't really like USA, it's up to you, you have to make decision. if you really love ur boyfriend i have to go with him. what's ur boyfriends nationality? if he uzbek his family not gonna like you. i'm in USA now in Nebraska, i'm an exchange student.

actually his family loves me, they see I have learned the language, and to tell the truth, I think I like Uzbekistan better than america, the money is a hard thing, but I have a buisness in america that makes money for me. He is Uzbek, and I have learned russian and uzbek to make living easier, I have learned national dance, and no one is ever rude to me, they are all very nice, maybe because I look russian, I don't know.
You have a bad impression of your people, and how you think they will treat americans, It is the truth, they are very welcoming of me, and they love to teach me things.
