Looking for some good fish and chips on Dec 28th ...

Hi,

I'm flying into Gatwick and will have a stopover of 11 hours (on Dec 28th from 7:15 to 18:20). Knowing I have some itchy feet, I decided to hit the town. I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a must-eat fish n' chips shop somewhere in London (please don't say the airport...hehehe)... here is the catch, i'd also like to see some sites on the limited time :)... so i'd be interesting to hear your thoughts on something cool to do with the time that will incorporate a lunch at a fish-n-chips.

cheers,
Fernando

The Golden Hinde off Marylebone High St. is one of the highly recommended fish and chips places - good neighborhood, easy walking to Oxford Street, Piccadilly etc. The Tube will get you around to almost any area fairly quickly.

Actually, Gatwick is on a fast route to Brighton on the coast. That is well worth a day trip and it is full of good fish and chip restaurants on the sea front.

Not sure about the fish and chips!, but if you really want to get into London from Gatwick and you only have 11 hours, go by train from Gatwick Airport, the station is attached to Gatwick South Terminal. However, don't get the regular train but get on the Gatwick Express. It might cost a little more (but not much) and it will save you about 1 hour on a round trip. Well worth it. It is 30 minutes non-stop into London Victoria station which is in the West End of town.

Have a great time.

Pete
