San Carlos de Bariloche Bariloche to Buenos Aires
Posted: Sat November 26, 2005 01:05 PM UTC
We would like to travel by land, in comfort, from Santiago to Buenos Aires - taking about two weeks - through the Lake District. We would like to do it in short daytime trips - traveling no more than 5 hours a day, staying two nights in "interesting" places along the way. The part that I can find very little about is the overland part from Bariloche to Buenos Aires.

Open to any suggestions.

Thank you,
Sanscott

There is nothing interesting in-between. That's a 17 hour drive with a recommended overnight stay as you approach La Pampa or Buenos Aires provinces.

Thanks,
Would a stop in Bahia Blanca be an option?

Distances from Bariloche to:
Buenos Aires 1640 km
Santa Rosa 1011 km
Bahia Blanca 1076 km

The trip is long and boring either through Bahia Blanca or Santa Rosa (ruta del desierto). I would recommend a night stay at Santa Rosa in La Pampa province, leaving 600 kms for the last leg of your trip. If you're renting a car, it would be much better to drop it at Bariloche and take a flight (2hs) or a bus.
