Hue Booking train from Hue to Danang
Posted: Sat November 12, 2005 02:19 PM UTC
Can I book train ahead of arrival in Hue? If so, how? If not, will there likely be vacancy on train or are they generally booked?

We will be staying at Saigon Morin and I am nervous about not being able to get tickets once I get there. Thank you

Any tips on Hue would be much appreciated - good restaurants, not miss sights

Hi Pam,
Sometimes the train is full ( I guess you want to have a soft sleeper - night train ).
But generally, you can get tickets when you get to Hanoi. Everyday, there are at least 5 trains going from Hanoi to Saigon - and of course, stop at Hue. If you are worried, you can book in advance with any travel agency. Check-out the route and timetable at www.vr.com.vn
Hue : classic city tour : citadel, tombs ( Tu Duc & Khai Dinh ), boat trip in perfume river, visit the Thien Mu pagoda. Hue is such a quiet city, just relax.
cheers,
Hien

Actually Hue is not too far from Danang. If your mode of transport is train, your time will be quite restrictive as compare to Open Bus ticket. I am not too sure how do you get to Hue. If you're already using Open Bus from other part of Vietnam to Hue, you should continue to use Open Bus to Danang too. Then your stay in Vietnam can be flexible because you only need to confirm your next destination with bus operator 12-24 hours before your journey.

I paid quite a big different in train ticket using agent. That is for sure.
