Columbus Maybe getting a job offer at Ohio State University
Posted: Sat November 12, 2005 02:08 PM UTC
Hello Guys and Gals,

I was wondering if anybody can give me an honest heads up on what it's like to live in Columbus. I am a young professional and I would also like to know what are the best neighborhoods to live in for my age group. Are there any areas where you can walk to places just as easily as driving. Are the people friendly? Lots to do, that sort of thing. Any info, would be much appreciated. Thanks

Columbus RE: Maybe getting a job offer at Ohio State University

I worked at OSU for three years. It is a safe city and a bit boring in my opinion. The best neighborhoods for nightlife and restaurants are the Short North (just north of downtown) and German Village (just south of downtown). Columbus goes crazy over OSU football in the fall. The main thing I didn't like about Columbus is that it is very limited in outdoor activities. Besides football and golf there is little to do if you enjoy swimming, boating, skiing, etc. Lake Erie is a two hour drive and the mountains of West Virgina about the same distance.
Make sure you check out the small town of Yellow Springs, 50 miles southwest of Columbus. It has a lot of character (and interesting characters).
