RE: DRIVING FROM NORTH CONWAY TO STOWE, VERMONT Posted: Mon December 5, 2005 09:15 AM UTC
You'll enjoy either route - I imagine you're choosing between 302, or the Kancamagus(118)? I think I'm partial to 302 during the Winter. The Kancamagus is much more beautiful, I think, during the Summer. 302 will take you past the world famous Mount Washington Hotel, as well as by the base of Mount Washington, itself. You can then hop on 93 North across the border and end up on Vermont 15. I'm not familiar with this stretch of Vermont road. The trip should be relatively quick.
Unless, you decide to forego 93, detour through Franconia and visit Sugar Hill - one of the most photographed villages in New England. Sugar Hill has stellar views of the Presidentials and Lafayette. Plus, from there you can travel through Lisbon, and on into Vermont.
Should you travel the Kancamagus, skip the tacky town of Lincoln and dine in No. Woodstock - an adorable mountain village. Continue on to the Vermont border and pick up on the road from Sugar Hill/Lisbon, towards Barre, Vermont.
I vote 302. Have Fun!
