Ryanair to Oslo
Posted: Tue November 8, 2005 08:01 PM UTC
HI everyone
Have just looked for some cheap flights(anywhere) for husband and myself to take a break,a couple of days for his birthday.
Ryanair look good(and cheap) but fly to Torp, from there I looked at the Soria moria hotel which has good reviews however I guess it is outside of Oslo which means how do I get there and what is about
in this area??
perhaps we would be best to stay in oslo itself??
so what do you think would be best any suggestions would be greatly recieved!
OOh and is it likely to snow the 1St weekend in December!???

Soria Moria is a a very fabulous hotel, but it IS outside Oslo, so you would need a taxi from downtown ($$$$$$). The subway will take to some way towards it, but you'' still have to walk some 15 minutes, not good if you're carrying suitcases. And...at that time of year, the hotel is likely to be shrouded in fog, if the the weather patterns change, which they often do in December. February is uaually more stable. In short, if you want to see Oslo, better stay in the city. If it's a hotel break you want, at a hotel that's really out there, in the middle of the woods, go for it, but maybe hubby wants to do something more exciting than lounging at a typical conference hotel....???
Snow may be likely, but no guarantee.

Torp is 2hr drive from Oslo. Not sure about bus, if train you shall have to go into the close-by city Sandefjord. I do not know from where in GB you are coming, have you considered Newcastle to Bergen/Stavanger and then to Oslo?
Top hotels in downtown Oslo is Grand and Continental. Expensive, though.

There will be a bus (TorpEkspressen) waiting for every RyanAir flight at Torp to take passengers to Oslo and intermediate stops as per need. 1 hr 45 minutes. NOK 130 last time I did it.

Ciao the Sandefjord area is very nice. The town of Sandefjord is good and near it there is the nice town of Tonsberg. If you want to go to Oslo there is a bus that departure about 30 minutes after the landing of the Ryanair flight. It cost 130 NOK and after 2 hour you arrive to the Oslo Bus Station, just to the side of Oslo S Terminal and in the heart of the town!!
