| Guadalajara | Moving to GDL - need driving & pet travel info Posted: Tue November 8, 2005 01:04 AM UTC
I'm planning on moving to GDL next year, so am trying to prepare for it. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on moving to Mexico? I plan to take most of my possessions - not much but more than can fit into 2 pieces of luggage. And I also want to bring my cat with me. Would driving be better vs. going by plane?
Also, does anyone know how long it takes to drive from the Phoenix/Tucson area in Arizona to Guadalajara? Thanks. Azul 123 |

Hi Azul 123.
I guess I would probably fly, just because of the cat. But you could do two trips, driving one, then flying back with the cat. Probably the fastest way is down through Nogales along the Pacific Coast then up through Tepic to Guadalajara. From Tucson, we've made it to Culiacan in about 14hrs and from Culiacan to Guadalajara is about 8 hours or so. The highway is very good (but lots of casetas) except for between Mazatlan and Tepic (unless they've fixed it). The sanest trip would be to do it in at least 3 days. David

Azul. I think is better fly, specially if you don’t have wide experience driving in Mexico, specially Guadalajara. I`m a native from this city.
Are you planning to rent a place here in the city, or moving to Chapala lake?. Sergio
