Hi I am thinking of coming to Alkmaar for a football match Alkmaar v Middlesbrough. Can you recommend a hotel.
How long will it take by train from Airport to Alkmaar? Many Thanks Jim. |

Hi, I recommend Amrath Alkmaar. It's a brandnew hotel and literally 3 minute walk from the delightful town center. It is also close to the trainstation.
Check my Alkmaar page at http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/2bf0c/71244/ I've seen all the hotels in Alkmaar (incl. rooms) as I am involved in organising an international conference there. Depending on the train you take, it's 50 minutes to 1 hr. from Schiphol to Alkmaar, all with one change of trains at Amsterdam Sloterdijk.

btw... I do not recommend the Golden Tulip, as I find it a bit of a dreary business hotel. You get better value at the Amrath or Palatijn.
Although, when the new stadion is finished, you can walk to it from the Golden Tulip (I don't know when you're going)
