I would like to find a low cost, maybe last-minute, round trip from fairbanks to Point Barrow for 1-2 days.
Where can I find low cost, maybe last-minute, air tickets?

Sorry, things don't work here the way they do in many other places. There is no cheap way to get to Barrow (nor any cheap way to stay there), and last-minute tickets are the most expensive because the airlines know that last-minute buyers need to get there, they aren't just bargain-shopping.

I would try Frontier Flying Service and Alaska Airlines. Alaska Air has a nonstop from Fairbanks, and Frontier will take you on an tour of the north slope - Kaktovik, Deadhorse, Nuiqsut, Barrow.

I think these are the only two airlines offering passenger service to Barrow right now. Frontier recently bought out Cape Smythe Airlines (Barrow).

With either choice Im guessing a compulsive-type fare will be about 600$ round trip.

Well, it's bizarre. I asked a question, I suggest an answer. Okay. I found two ways to get a real low-cost air-ticket from Fairbanks to Barrow:

The CHEAPer air-ticket is Alaska-Airlines "Web Specials" from http://www.alaskaair.com > DEALS > Web Specials , on this week it is 369$ round-trip.

The CHEAPest air-ticket is Alaska-Airlines "Best of the West" Air Pass, valid only for tourist arriving to North-America by Trans-Atlantic flight. If you fit this rule, you can get one-way air-tickets such as Fairbanks to Barrow for 119$ each flight. This one is really a great deal. See http://www.alaskaair.com/visitUSA/AirPass.asp for details.
