I was there in November. It is a very interesting place, but make sure you have a lot of time to spend.

I visited it in September 2001. It is an imposing building, and the initial part, the most designed part, is, I thought, the most interesting. I did spend a fair amount of time in it, but in the end felt it was missing something, which I can't quite put my finger on. A resonance?

i know what you mean.
you have missed the tragedy
i dont think the museum is about the Holocaust. It is about history of Jews in Germany and Europe.

Thanks for your note. I keep returning to Berlin every five years to update myself on new architectural features. I wanted to see the JMB because the architect is such a talented man. Anything else I should see in Mitte or Prenzlauer?

Thanks for the comment. Do you recommend any other Jewish sites in Berlin? Since travelling in Israel I am becoming more interested in the Jewish presence in European cities.

I visited the Judisches Museum at Lindenstrasse 9-14 which is mostly about Jewish contribution to Berlin life. It's incredible I thought and rather important to see. There is also tours you can go on to see areas of Jewish Life in Berlin, current and past, and takes you to all the highlights. They leave from Zoogarten Station.

Also if your in the area to see Sachsenhausen is a sobering thing if you are into the history of Jews, even though many others were interred and killed there.
