Is there any one who can give me some information.Im going to pattaya in december and im thinking of going to ko samet for 3 days.. Now the info i need.
Should i get a package deal in Pattaya or make my own way there and find my own digs? Which would work out cheaper? Looking on the net two places caught my eye saikaew villa. And silversands has anyone stayed in these complexes? And how do i get to the island on my own { directions }... Thans Andy |

To get there form Bangkok. Go to Ekkamai Bus station(same station as you go to Pattaya). Get a ticket to Ban Pae. There're many piers there. The ferry to Ko Samet cost about Bt50.
It's okay to book your hotel via internet, or you can just go there and choose the one you want. Not sure if the package is cheaper or not.

From Pattaya you can either take a bus or hire a taxi to take you to Ban Phe where you'll catch a boat out to Samet. It's easy enough to find your own digs but it'll take a bit of footwork if you do. There are some rooms right in the village but most are outside along the shoreline. I have to say, however, that the eastern shore area where most of the small bungalow resorts are is a dirty, overbuilt mess. The road was lined with trash, some of the beaches had a lot of trash, and many of the resorts were poorly built, moldy and falling apart. Your best chance for a good time is to rent a motorbike as soon as you arrive and do some scouting around for a clean and well-located environment. That's what I did and I ended up on the west side of the island at the Dome Bungalows (now has a different name, I'm told, but I don't know what it is.) This is on Ao Prao Beach, a small beach with only 3 resorts. It's a bit difficult to get there as the road is more like something for a mountain goat than a vehicle, but that actually keeps traffic and visitors to a minimum. You'd also have the advantage of being able to watch the sunsets from that beach.

well, i think pattaya and koh samet give a very different feelin and touchin. ive been both places...pattaya is juz a beach which is too many people...they dont go there for the beach but others...koh samet is an island which are full of the beaches. hard saikeaw is the most left and the first beach very peaceful, at the same time the next beach Ao pai is full of life. there are so many budget bungalows provide only walk-in guests. Silverlands what you have menmentioned is in Ao pai. this place is very great to stay and this place provides a night life well too. i've been there and i love this paradise.
take a look about the samet here http://thailand-travel-info.blogspot.com/2006/06/p And take a look on my personal albums there. http://spaces.msn.com/members/kanik9 ps. choose "paradise samed island" Hope you can feel somethin ;) kani rynn
