Visiting HK in December
Posted: Sat October 29, 2005 09:27 AM UTC
Hi!
I'll be going to HK in early Becember.I hope to get some answers to these questions:

1.How cold will it be? Should I buy specific winter clothing or would normal clothes be enough? Please consider it from the perspective of someone who stays in a hot and humid country like Malaysia.

2.I'll be in ShenZhen for 1 day.Do the people in Shenzhen accept HK currency?

3.I've heard a lot about G.O.D. Can someone please tell me where the outlets are situated? Any in Kowloon?

4.I might be staying in Stanford.Any affordable restaurants nearby?

thanks.

I went in mid December a few years back (I'm from England). Personally speaking I was able to wander around in a T-shirt even late at night, although I did get some funny stares from the locals who were wandering about in fur coats. I seem to remember that it was about 20 degrees Centigrade at about the coolest. This may be cold to you, but was pretty pleasant to me... I appreciate that Malaysia is very hot and very humid, and it felt of a similar temperature to Hong Kong in the summer time. Hong Kong is much more pleasant to visit in the Winter as it is definitely cooler and less humid then.

hi angel...

it is about 17 degrees in hk in december... not too cold... i just wear normal malaysian clothings... however, it can be chilly when there is a breeze... so i presume a scarf to cover your neck and lower part of your face would siffice... and keep your hands in your pockets... if you have worked in a computer room before, it is much colder in a computer room, i would say... hk dollars will be accepted in shenzhen...

regards.chia

Hiya,

haha, you dun need to bring too many clothes along as you should do some shopping here :)

There is one G.O.D. in Ocean Terminal, next to Star Ferry in Tsim Sha Tsui.
If you go around SOHO, there is one G.O.D. on Hollywood Road.

Happy shopping.

Cheers,

Hi, HK usually is very pleasant in December, with temperatures around 20°C during daytime. BTW what is your hometown Ipoh like? Whast about you telling us about it in your VT homepage? I always love to hear about life in lesser known places. Have a nice trip.

thanks for all the replies.

To Ritchie:I'm preparing for my exams now.If I have time,I'll try to wirte something about Ipoh.

Ipoh is a city in Perak,Malaysia. It is famous for its Chinese temples and limestone caves. Not a very good place to shop. However,it is a great place to try out Chinese food such as "nga choy kai"(bean sprouts chicken),dim sum and Hainanese chicken rice. And of course, the very famous Ipoh White Coffee.
