Does any one know anything about the town of La Tigra up near Fortuna???
Are there any sites that might contain any info about it?
Any suggestions would be appreciated! We will be there for a day or so in January/06

Try this web link for information on La Tigra, Costa Rica. www.govisitcostarica.com/region/city.asp?cID=109. I know that the area up around Fortuna is gorgeous, in the rain forest and close to Arenal Volcano and the Hot Springs.

Tigra Tigra information

La Tigra is located in north central Costa Rica (San Carlos), on the Atlantic slope of the Tilarán mountain range, 30 kilometers (19 miles) due east of Montverde, 45 kilometers (28 miles) north of San Ramon and due west of Ciudad Quesada. It is a one and a half hour drive from the airport and a two hour drive from San José.

The average rainfall is 3.9 meters per year, primarily falling from May to December. During the dry season there is usually a maximum of 30 days without rain. Temperatures range from 62-87 degrees Fahrenheit. The soils are of volcanic origin and well drained.

Tigra is located on a "flyway" for migrating birds and butterflies. One can see hundreds, sometimes thousands, at a time, of hawks, swallowtail kites and vultures. There are more than 270 bird species in the area, including quetzals, bell birds, umbrella birds, trogans, toucans, parrots and many seasonal songbirds. More than 450 species of butterflies have been identified in the area. Wildlife abounds in and around the farms. we have seen three types of cats on the farms - Tigras, Bobcats and Jaguar

We live here in La Tigra and will try to answer any question you have
