My partner and I are moving to Cadiz in the next month or two and would welcome advice on the best way to find reasonably priced long term accommodation in the casca antiguo.
Also any advice on TEFL teaching opportunities- I teach all levels up to university pre-masters degrees and am a qualified Cambridge CAE / IELTS examiner and also examine for Trinity College. I have over 11 years experience. |

Great idea. Cadiz is a very interesting city. And the access to the rest of the area is improving all the time. They recently announced that a catamaran service would start sometime this winter to link Cadiz with El Puerto de Santa Maria across the bay. At present the only boat link is by the old ferry "El Vapor" and that chugs along slowly taking 40 minutes. But it's a great trip. In El Puerto there are a few foreign language schools. One called "London Calling" in Avda.libertad. But there are a number. And of course there is the English Centre which has been very successful for many years now. (El centro ingles I think is the web site)
Can't assist you with Cadiz I am sorry. Did you look at the Uni of Cadiz website? http://www.uca.es/ they have English courses - naturally!

Many thanks for that. We are hoping to stay in El Puerto when we first arrive so will check out the schools you mention. Sounds like it may be a good alternative place to live if we can't find anywhere suitable in Cadiz. Can't wait to be there!

If you go to El Puerto you may want to visit 'Bill's Bar' which is Bar Plaza Colon very close to the centre. Bill has been in Puerto for over 20 years and he is very helpful. He organises a weekly quiz night which is attended by some of people involved with teaching. Quiz night is on Thursdays during the winter months as earlier in the week he is closed.

Don't work at TECS (EL CENTRO INLES) if you can avoid it. The pay is VERY low.
