European VT Meeting 2006
Posted: Sat October 22, 2005 10:52 AM UTC
Attendees of last great VT meeting in Verona, may recall that Carmela71 and myself offered to organise one for 2006 in Marbella. The last few weeks we have had many requests as to what is happening. We have spoken to VT staff and they are in agreement that we can organise something, if possible, they will also try to attend.

We want to start organising early because it will give people the best chance to book cheap flights to Malaga and get the best deals at hotels.

We are currently speaking to a few local hotels to try and arrange a good price for members, but it really would be helpful if we had an idea of numbers that could attend. Our idea was to get one hotel to accommadate all or two neighbouring hotels in the event numbers of attendees are high. We are looking at 3 and 4 star hotels in central Marbella.

We will be adding information as we get it to members page 'Euromeet2006'

http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/a6294/

OK... Who is interested in attending?

What weekend would you prefer? 28th April to 1st May (bank holiday weekend) or as last year the following weekend 5th May to 7th May.

Great!

I'll try to attend that meeting. I've been to Marbella many years ago. I stayed at a private house in the town centre.

Bye!

i thought the second meeting would be near to the easter europe countries because it will be to expensive to fly into western europe for those members and for the visa it might be a problem as well?

Hi,

I did not go to the one last year but would like to come to this one? Also there are flights from NYC-Malaga on www.air-hitch.com for $137 each way. Also www.skyauction.com has air comet tickets to malaga cheap.

Krista, Any cheap airline that fly from Slovenia to spain? It is to include at the list of airlines.

I am afraid the closest I can get is from Milan (direct to Malaga with easyjet)! or with Easyjet to frankfurt or London Standted (but that implies conections etc) Any ideas?

thanks

I could only think of Ryanair option now: Klagenfurt - Frankfurt - Jerez
but will search for others and will let you know
how difficult is to get to Marbella from Barcelona? a direct flight from Venezia with Ryanair then some sightseeing along the way would be nice, I don't think I'd hop over just for a VT meeting anyway - a few days earlier is my plan but we'll see.
Or a road trip with Brad, that would be something! ;o)
off to Barcelona tomorrow, just a quickie, one day, but that will be my first time in Spain!!! ole! habla espanol! tapas? sangria? balla Sardana? hehe

There are many daily flights from Barcelona to malaga, some of the airlines are: Vueling (very cheap flights!!!!), Iberia (it coast us buying in advance 60 euros return), spanair (also offers) ...

:-)

Jerez is more dificult, as you will ahve to go first to Jerez, a bus to Cadiz and another bus to Marbella (only 2 or 3 per day). an option would be renting a car, only 2 hours, not a busy road and very scenic, but as Mauricio said from Malaga airport is very easy as there are direct flights and if you are a group of 4 even a taxi is not too expensive (48 or 56 euros)

Did you have a look at "www.wizzair.com"? They have budget flights. No free drinks, no free food, but cheap prices.

Yes, that was Carmen. Malaga airport is the best option and there is a regular bus to Marbella only costs about 4 Euros. Flights from Barcelona to Malaga can be very cheap if booked in advance.

About 45 minutes by car or bus. It is about 50 kilometers, but the road can be busy.

i think for the netherlands it will be difficult both weekends. because it is holidays here for the kids.
but you have informed us early.
i will try to go if i can find cheap flights and accomandation.
what do you think the price will be for the hotels?
at the moment i cannot find anything for the months april and may at transavia. and from amaterdam to malaga cost about 230 at iberia.
is there already a weekend been chosen?
i have stayed in benalmadena before that is close to marbella or not?
will wait for more information but you know my situation at the moment.
but i hope to come and have something to look forward.
diana
anyone else tips for cheap flights from amsterdam to malaga?
