Assisi RE: Direct Bus from Assis to Cortona

There are 5 or 6 direct trains a day between the two towns - see www.trenitalia.com . The trip takes a little over an hour and costs just under 4 euro for a second class seat (it is amazingly how much cheaper train travel is in Italy than in other parts of Europe).

Note that these trains go to the station for Camucia-Cortona. Looking at www.viamichelin.com, Camucia is a kilometer or two from Cortona - I can't see exactly where the station is...

There are at least another 6 trains a day that have a connection in Terontola-Cortona...it's possible that you may be able to get a local bus from Terontola instead of changing trains and continuing to Camucia-Cortona - but I see that Camucia is much closer, so why bother...

http://www.cortonaweb.net/eng/informazioni/arrivare.php says:

"The Terontola station is 11 km from Cortona and the Camucia station is 5 km from Cortona. There is a bus service to Cortona from both stations.", but it does not provide schedules for this bus service.

Also note that Assisi station is a few km downhill from Assisi centre, actually it is in Santa Maria Degli Angeli. There is a bus service connecting the two, schedule at http://www.apmperugia.it/canale.asp?id=17 .
