Lugano Travel Forum

Anyone suggests a good comfortable clean 3 or 4 star hotel in lugano. preferable very central in a touristic area, accessible to restaurants, and bars. don't know if i'm asking too much but would like to have it not far from the train station

If you are arriving by train you can ask at the Tourist Information Kiosk in the train station for a recommendation. They will know which hotels are close by and which ones are good or bad.

Cant remember the name of the one I stayed in but it was clean and very nice. Its situated about half way up the mountain and the rooms overlook the town of Lugano. (gorgoues) It was just a short walk from the train station and tram that takes you down to the city center. When you arrive, if you look up the mountain and see a little pink hotel next to a big yellow grand hotel you've found it. The prices are quite reasonable.

I think the 1st posting is referring to Hotel Montarina. It's located behind the train station. The pink building is the actual Hotel Montarina and the yellow building is the sister hotel (called something like the Continental).
I stayed at the hostel last summer and I thought the hotel, the grounds, and the pool were really nice.
