I am so sorry that i only became connected to this site now (10/2007) because I believe that the Marquesas are perhaps the most wonderful place I have ever visited. We arrived on a private sail boat in (I think) 1979 and spent perhaps 2 weeks in the islands. I remember Nuku Hiva for the market where we obtained wine by the ladle out of a wood barrel. But the most wonderful experience was when we pulled into Hane Vave on Fatu Hiva, the most southern of the islands. The place and people are forever imprinted in my mind. There is nowhere in the world that I hold fondly to my heart like I do Fatu Hiva. I know this is very much after your trip but I can only hope that you were equally impressed. I would love to hear of your experiences there.
