I will be visiting Gouves it's 13 km from Heraklion airport in Crete Island from the Oct. 8 till Oct. 15, me , my wife and one year old child, we will be staying at the Grecotel Creta sun hotel. Is it warm enough to swim in October in the sea and what about the weather is it warm enough to have a nice tan? I also heard that Crete is very windy is it true? And if possible any oppinion about this hotel. Thank you

The sea will be warm, having had all summer to warm up. The weather can be good, even hot but it can also rain. And yes, it can be windy, especially on the north coast.Keep your fingers crossed. It is usually warmer in the south of the island.
I don't know anything about the hotel, sorry.

I've been in Crete in october and I've usually been lucky - teh worst wind can actually be in July/August. It is just a case of luck - I've only been once in 8 trips when it was windy most days. It is usually just a day or so.
