| Tarragona | Learning spanish in TARRAGONA? Posted: Mon April 28, 2003 04:56 PM UTC
Does anybody know about private tutors or schools in Tarragona, Spain that offer spanish classes to grown-ups and children? I am moving to Tarragona for 6 months with my family and will need to take spanish classes while we're there.
thanks for any help |

As far as I know there are several language schools in Tarragona where you and your family will be able to take Spanish classes.
Unfortunately, I've only found one of the in internet: http://www.ihes.com/tar/ Another option is the "Escola Oficial d'Idiomes" (Official Language School). It's the cheapest one, most teachers are experienced but it's overcrowded (hard to enter) and, in my opinion, it's not suitable for children. Anyway, once in Tarragona it would be a good idea to walk along the "Rambla Nova" (the main street in the city). You will find whatever you need there. If you prefer a private tutor, once in Tarragona buy a local newspaper ("Diari de Tarragona" or "El Punt", for instance) or a magazine and read the small ads. Sometimes, for private tutors it's better to get personal advice. So, simply ask your new neighbours. Spanish and Catalan people usually love to help foreigners, specially if they show interest in learning their language. I'm nor currently living in the city, but Tarragona is a pleasant place to live. Not a big city ( about 120000 inhabitants), by the sea (nice beaches) and located in one of the most tourist areas of Spain (Salou, Cambrils, just 80 Km from Barcelona...) Hope this helps a bit. Have a great time among us and good luck.

Thought you might appreciate a recommendation from an English family living in Tarragona province. We have a very good friend here called Montse Marques who is a language teacher and who can be contacted at mmarques@tinet.org
She has experience teaching all age groups and would be glad to help.

I am currently in school getting a masters to become a Spanish teacher for foreigners. I have taught Spanish to English speakers when I was in the US working as an environmental educator. I am interested in tutoring foreigners in Spanish to help them learn this language faster than they would do by themselves.I have the training for it and I love doing it.
Contact me at meritxellgarcia2003@yahoo.com if you are interested.
