Punta del Este Travel Forum

I will be in Punta del Este during January or February. I have access to these RCI Hotels and Condos. Is anyone familiar with these resorts? Club Hotel Casapueblo,Club del Mar, Solanas Royalmar,Solanas Country Club,Club Hotel Las Dunas,Punta del Este Golden Beach, Club Sol Del Este,Solanas Forest Resort,Barradas Hotel,Esturion de Montoya,Salto Grande Tiempo Compartido,Hotel Salto Grande,Internautic Punta Del Este, Penta en Days Inn Punta Del Este,Ibiza Resort.
We will not have an auto so anything close to the town/casino would be a plus.

Casapueblo is worth a visit because of the Carlos Paez Vilaró Museum and the sights from Punta Ballena, but I wouldn't recommend you to stay there if you don't have a car. It's about 15 km West of downtown Punta del Este.
The same applies to Solanas, a beautiful and peaceful resort, but you must have a car to go to the beach or to Punta del Este.
Hotel Salto Grande is located in Punta del Este, within walking distance to the beach and to the Casinos. Looks like that's what you want.
Esturion de Montoya is another possibility, a different option. It's located in La Barra, overlooking the beach, with lively nightlife (in January especially, a bit less in February), and there are vans every 20 - 30 minutes to / from Punta del Este. You also have the Mantra casino nearby (1 km). Many people from Punta del Este go to La Barra at night, and some even go to its beaches during the day. It's a very good hotel and location.
Las Dunas is located on the beach, has excellent installations, but is somewhat more isolated, about 1.5 km East from Esturion de Montoya. You also have the vans option to move.

Henry---thanks very much for the info on the hotels. It was so helpful and I can make a decision. I have never been to Punta, but I am looking forward to this visit in the summer.

If you want to stay in a hotel near the Punta and close to a Casino, you should stay at the Conrad, that is a hotel and Casino and it is very close to Punta del Este, maybe 5 blocks away. From the Punta there is transportation ( Bus, Cabs) to everywhere. The hotel is also located in front of the beach.
