Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Utrecht retrieve lost and found properties
Posted: Sun October 2, 2005 09:54 AM UTC
Dear VTers,

I am writing to ask you for help.
I have been looking for a bracelet and a pierce, probably lost somewhere on my way from Brussels to Amsterdam via Antwerp on 24th of August.
Within that week, I tried to reach NS lost property office but gained no reply. I sent a request form from Dutch page though I am not quite sure if it was received.
A hotel reception staff helped me to call it but never reached for some reason with the number on the web.
http://www.ns.nl/servlet/Satellite?cid=1083234338255&pagename=www.ns.nl%2FPage%2FArtikelPage_www.ns.nl&lang=en&c=Page
She also gained the contact address from the phone directory for me, but that number also didn't work.
Could someone please help me to contact the office?
No reply means there are no found (similar) properties?
Or are there anywhere else I should ask for information?

Please fine-tune me.
Thank you very much for your support in advance!

Sincerely,
Masako

If you succeeded in sending your form, you should have gotten a notification within three weeks whether your item(s) has (have) been traced.
It seems you did not get your notification and therefore the NS did not get your missing item form probably.
Try again; as the railways will not store items longer than 3 months.

Dear Pieter-san,
Thank you very much for your prompt reply, which urges me to contact the office again.
I tried to do the same thing when I was in Europe.
I am wondering Verloren voorwerpen means lost properties. Unfortunately the request form (Opsporingsformulier) is not available right now because of the server's technical problem.
I am hoping I am in the right track and will try again.
I really appreciate, Pieter-san!! Best, Masako

Dank u, Marcel-san for your information!
I just retried again and put many ad-hoc letters in the form.
The following message was popped up at last and hoped this was the sign my request was went through.
"Uw gegevens zijn verzonden, bedankt voor het invullen. U krijgt zo spoedig mogelijk bericht.
When I was in Antwerpen, I struggled with the page for some timebecause it didn't take my request with the invalid words.
Desperately need the reply from NS staff....

I thank you very much for your help!!! Have a great week! Masako

Marcel-san, thanks for your translation!
I will lie in bed til meat falls in my mouth... as in Japanese proverbs.
Slaapwel! Masako

P.S. I miss peaceful days in Netherlands.

Groeten uit Amerika ....

Surprized they have not made a reply
yet to you ?

But then again it is getting close to
"Package Day" in the Nederlands, and
maybe Sinterklaas needed a few extra
things, so just maybe he went to the
"Annual Lost & Found Market" at CS in
Utrecht. After all, "Market Days" are
on Wednesday and Saturday, but:

dat zeggen ze allemaal .... :o)

Just having a little fun with you, and
we hope that you will recover whatever
you lost soon.

And when you finally get everything back,
Wil je een biertje ?
We zien elkaar in de kroeg, de Punt-IJsselstein.

Prettige dag verder
Doei,

Al & Mary - United States

Thank you very much for taking care of my message, Marcel-san! Yes, unfortunately no reply has been made yet ;_;) No news is no good in this case. It might not be lost in the train because I traveled a lot on the day, but I just wanted to hear something from that office...
Nice to hear from you Al-san and Mary-san, A few days ago, I recalled the lovely line of my lost bracelet, hoping to get it back. I am afraid I can't understand your Dutch fully and just keep your blessings.

Anyway, I just read the novel "Girl with a pearl earring" by Tracy Chevalier. I was really thrilled and want to see Vermeer's masterpiece again in the Maurithais!

Have a great weekend! Masako

Masako,

Happy holidays to you too.

You're not alone with lost property; j0104 lost her camera last August. Also that one has not shown up again. Sad!
