We will be stopping at Kuantan for a day on a P & O Cruise in August, 2006. Does anyone have any tips on what to do whilst we are there? Many thanks. Phantomrose.

You can visit the markets to see and buy the local produce or visit Telok Cempedak for seafood lunch. I also recommend a short visit to Cherating Bay to enjoy the sun and beach for a short while.

Hey thanx Ast. I'm planning a P&O Cruise next year too Rose :o) ...from one Perth rose to another, perhaps we should get together and swap travel plans haha :o)

We just enjoyed our P&O cruise to Kuantan... it was fun, we chose the Malay Lifestyles cruise tour, which was 65AUD each, and was worth it in our opinion.

We were on the Sky in Feb. We spent the day in Kuantan town - found the town very dirty. Friends on the cruise went on the Lake Chini tour (abount $85) and were reasonably impressed. Others went on the tour to Pekan and reported there was not much there to see and would not recommend it. The tours on the ship work out rather pricy if you are a family (as we were) but unfortunately there is extremely limited transport at the port and it is a 45 minute drive out of town - any available cabs went quickly. A tour is probably the best option at this port.
