| Rangoon | VOA (Visa on Arrival) Posted: Sat October 1, 2005 09:51 PM UTC
I am trying to get the VOA with a travel agency from Myanmar
They are telling me that I must fix my itinerary and hotels to get the visa. Do you know if this is necessary or if it is only a commertial Pressure? I contacted an agency because I couldn´t get in touch with the official web. Thank´s ElPariente |

They just try to organize your trip. The beat way for the visa is to get it in Bangkok. If you fly to Bangkok (the best and cheapest way) you may receive your visa the same day. As soon as you arrive in Bangkok go directly to the Embassy and you pick it up in the afternoon after 3.00p.m. In order to fly the next day to Yangon.

hi there,
why do You want Your visa at arrival? Why not take a "normal"? I dont know about Spain, but in Germany You get this very easy. And at last You can be sure You have one when arrive. Also there is a chance to do Your visa via internet. (Oops, sorry, while writing this I want to check the internet-adress and I saw they have stopped this, sorry). have fun Gar

Hi,
Pitufo = Puffo-Puffi-Smurf-Pitufo-Stroumpf-Strumpf I don't see any while I was in Myanmar. It seems very strange to me to look at "Pitufos". Do you think to buy some and hope they will be cheaper overthere? For the VOA I already answer you and I really think that BKK is the best way EMBASSY OF THE UNION OF MYANMAR, BANGKOK ADDRESS : 132, SATHORN NUA ROAD, BANGKOK 10500 TEL NOS : (662) 233-2237, 234-4698, 233-7250, 234-0320 Duty Room 637-9406 FACSIMILE : (662) 236-6898 E-MAIL : mebkk@asianet.co.th

hi there,
oops, I didnt know there is no embassy in Spain. Have asked a few friends who know Myanmar (rules) very well, and they tell, they did not know anyone who has done the VOA. Also there are a lot of restrictions on it. One is, You have to name Your route and the holtels. But only to name, not to book. But ... Noone will garanty the visa is there when You arrive. So I would do it in advance. Sure You go via Bankok, but this will cost You one day minimum. If You dont wanna go to Bangkok it is a lot of time, for flights into Rangoon (Quatar Airways for ex) are faster and mostly cheaper. So perhaps You safe money, even when sending You passport to Paris. In Germany there are special companies that do the visa hussle for You - if You dont wanna do Yourselfe or need to hurry. Perhaps You find something in Spain also. Here the extra costs are about 30 Euro. have fun Gar PS: no smurfs in Myanmar, huh, I left hungry ;-) Thanks for You command on my page: Ask, if You want to need any more information (but I'll be on the road the next 2 weeks)

A quick note on the embassy in Bkk. I was there last week and had to wait 5 hours just to get the passport handed in ! I had to return the next day to pick up an express visa.
The embassy opens at 9 - 12 and 1-3pm. Get there before 9 as it's better to wait in line for an hour outside than 3 hrs inside. If you get to hand in your passport and pay in the morning, you will be able to pick up your p/p and visa in the afternoon. Good luck, Peter

I plan to send for a visa from embassy in US. Do you stillhave to pay the $200 exchange rate upon landing if you go alone or has this been ended?I've heard both things.
