There is a bus from Dubrovnik to Montenegro at 10.30 a.m. every day. If you wait at the street by the airport and wave the bus, the driver will stop and pick you up,( it is a Globtour bus, in color yellow and green so you can recognize it) . Since it is leaving Dubrovnik at 10.30 it should be passing by the airport around 11 a.m. or a little after 11 a.m.. Tell the driver to stop at Perast since Perast is on the way and it does not have the bus stop. This is a direct bus and I think most convenient.

There is also a bus at 3.30 p.m. every day from Dubrovnik. Passes by the airport and goes to Herceg Novi, but in Herceg Novi you have to take another bus to Perast . Make sure to ask when you are switching to another bus that is going around Boka Kotorska bay - so it will stop there, since many of the busses are using the ferry to cross the bay, and in that case they are not passing by Perast.

Also, there is bus from Dubrovnik at 8.00 p.m. except on Tuesdays and Thursdays
But I should check if it goes to Perast, if in the afternoon is more convenient for you??

For each of them you should stop and wait on the street and wave them! They should be the only busses to Montenegro, but ask them when they stop if they are the regular lines to MN. Companies are Globtour and Autoboka (written on the bus)

Write if you need more help!

Try and book a taxi from Herceg Novi to pick you up because they'll only charge 30-40 Euros and it will only take about an hour door to door. One of the tourist agencies in Herceg Novi might be able to give you a contact if you do an internet search.

Taxi and Transportation Service Dubrovnik (http://www.taxiservicedubrovnik.com/index.htm) (e-mail:tomislav@taxiservicedubrovnik.com) quoted me 100 euros last October for a taxi Dubrovnik Airport to Budva. Presumably, it would be cheaper to Perast. (Perast is a great place to stay!)

100 Euros seems very expensive. I'm if you get someone from Herceg Novi it would only be 50 Euros to Budva.

Looking forward to our stay. Any recommendations of places to eat or drink? I imagine there isn't an ATM there?

The Amfora is a pleasant restaurant at Perast suspended over the bay with moderate prices apart from the fresh fish which was more expensive. At Morinj, a few kilometers west of Perast, is the Catovica Mlini an attractive old mill restaurant, and a few kilometers to the east of Perast is another old mill restaurant, the Stari Mlini, at Ljusta, both very attractive places to eat, although both a bit expensive by Montenegrin standards. We prefered the latter, and it is a bit closer to Perast. (We spent our second week at Przno, beyond Budva, and our favourite restaurant of the trip was the Queen's Chair Restaurant there in a cliff-top position with superb views and excellent food.We went there several times!) A good restaurant at Kotor (one euro each way by bus) is the Galion near to the Fjord hotel, with good food, good views and moderate prices.
There are no ATMs in Perast, but there are in Kotor.
Where will you be staying in Perast?
Enjoy your trip!
Peter.

Thanks for the tips. A friend of the friend I am travelling with recently bought an apartment in Perast so we are staying there. Near the water. But I don't know exactly where to be honest! I look forward to trying those restaurants. Thank you again. David

Do you know if those restaurants are open during winter?

Also, have you any idea if there a local expat hangout?
