| Cook Islands | What can we do with a 4-hour layover Posted: Sun September 18, 2005 10:57 PM UTC
We have a 4-hour lay-over in the Cook Islands on the way from Los Angeles to NZ. Is it worth leaving the airport and trying to see something? Is everything small enough that we could rent a bike, tool around for a couple of hours than return to the airport? Or should we just play it safe?

If you mean you have four hours between landing and taking off again, it's not worth leaving the airport. Getting off the plane, going through passport control, going back through passport control and getting back on the plane won't leave any time for anything.
Either change your flights to allow a few days on Rarotonga ( worth it if possible) or take a good book.

Thanks for the advice. I always fly with a good book, but it sounds like I'll need two! However, I was hoping not to have to go through passport control twice. Since I'm flying on to Auckland, wouldn't the Cook Islands to NZ be considered a domestic flight?
