I’m planning a trip to Costa Rica february next year and a have I need help with my fishing plans.

Do you know a cheap way to get to and live in Barra del Colorado? And charter a guide for tarpons fishing? We’ve heard it’s the best place to fish for tarpons but the lodges seems expensive. In january, we’ve been to Tortuguero by boat for about 40$, stayed in town for 30$ a night, but didn’t caught any tarpon once on the sea. We want to maximise our chance this time, but stil have a tight budget.

Also, do you know a good and easy access freshwater or saltwater sites to cast from shore? We would be bringing our own rod & reel and would like to try fishing on our own. Location in Barra del Colorado or Tortuguero?

And locations near Manuel Antonio area? Or near Corcovado? These will probably be our second week destination.

Any fishing info, in fact, will be greatly appreciated. Including tips or web site local forum… (aside from Sailfish in the Pacific, we’ve been there twice already… ready to try something else!)
