Turks and Caicos Islands Getting around
Posted: Mon September 12, 2005 05:00 PM UTC
Hi there!

We are planning a trip to Provo around February and are trying to figure out where we are going to stay. I have a map of the island with all the hotels, but not the restaurants. Given that my girlfriend and I are kind of finicky (she's vegetarian, I'm allergic to seafood), the choice of restaurants becomes a bit more important in making our decision as to where to stay. So... my question is, how easy is it to get around from place to place?

For example, Sibonne's looks fine for us, but their restaurant is pretty geared towards seafood, so we would have to go elsewhere to eat on quite a few occasions, but I can't tell how far I'd have to go!

Thank you!

There is a shuttle service (gecko or some other name of a lizard) that runs between the marina and some of the new shopping areas being developed on the North / West side of the islands. There are lizard/gecko signs where it stops. I think it was around $3 per trip, but you could buy a day pass for around $10. It did not seem very efficient, but then again, nothing on Provo seemed very efficient. Have a great trip. Karl

Use the Geko, You can get a five day pass for about 20-30$. It goes all over the Island and runs 67am to 12pm midnight.
