dear vt-ers

i will have 2 days in SF during my trip to canada. this is the 2nd time i visit SF and i want to find out more about the independent artists and art spaces there - any recommendation? i have visited SF MoMA in my first trip so that's not going to be my first priority.

also i would appreciate any recommendation of hostel. i wil have big luggages with me and my major requirement is just clean. thank you very much!

when are you coming? There's an art walk in the Mission District this Saturday from 3-9pm.

Every First Thursday of the month, a bunch of art galleries are open late and offer free wine and snacks (if you can get there before it's all gone. SOme of the galleries that participate are:
Hang Art, 556 Sutter St., (415) 434-4264; www.hangart.com.
Hackett-Freedman Gallery, 250 Sutter St.,
Suite 400, (415) 362-7152; www.hackettfreedmangallery.com.
Rena Bransten Gallery, 77 Geary St., second floor, (415) 982-3292; www.renabranstengallery.com. Note: the second floor of 77 Geary also houses the George Krevsky Gallery, Larry Evans Fine Art and the Heather Marx Gallery.
Caldwell Snyder Gallery, 341 Sutter St.,
(415) 296-7896; www.caldwellsnyder.com.
Meyerovich Gallery, 251 Post St., fourth floor, (415) 421-7171; www.meyerovich.com.

There's also a bunch of interesting art spaces and galleries in the Mission district-

click on this link for an up-to-date calendar of what's showing where. It's a great source for some very interesting shows I've seen lately!
