Also would apreciate any info about those cities. I originally wasn't going to Blumenau, but since I'm traveling at the time for Oktoberfest, I feel it would be a crime NOT to visit. Also any info about lodging or points of interest in and around those places would be apreciated. Thanks.

You should make the trip by train from Curitiba to Paranagua. The track, that was completed in 1880, travels for three hours crossing the Serra do Mar mountains with numerous canyons, rivers, waterfalls and forest. There are 13 tunnels and 67 bridges.
