I am looking to arrive in Senegal in the next couple of weeks and would like to bike about the country...I'm not bring a bike with me...is it possible to rent bikes in Senegal and start biking from Dakar into the southern portion of the country? If this is possible any recommended routes and locations in Dakar where bikes can be rented?

Hello!

You are highly welcome in Senegal!
I think it will be possible to rent a bike in Dakar, but........ rainig time is not already finished and that fact can hurt you!
Going from Dakar to the South do not forget to visit the Sine Saloum Delta; it is a lovely place with many creeks an birds and there is also a noational park.
I suggest you one lodge in Toubakouta: Les Coquillages.
Look at: http://www.cyberlynda.com/lescoquillages
The owner is Laye Loum (phonenumber (00221) 6453036)
When you continue to the Casamance you will pass the border to arrive in the Gambia(Banjul)
You can have a look in the Gambia; import is to visit the Tanjeh Museum
http://www.tanje.dds.nl/index.htm
After you can cross the border at Jiboroh, to arrive again in Senegal (border place is Seleti) From here you can continue direction Ziguinchor, the capital of the Casamance or............ you visit us in our centre in Abene!

www.odunbeyeland.com/en/

You are also highly welcome at our place!

If you contact me, I can give you some details of the possibilities!

Greetings,

Adri Zegers
