I used to live in Ryde from 1964 and went abroad in 1977 to join a Kibbutz in Israel. I used to go to Ryde Boys School opposite the Parish Church on Queens Rd, I wondered if any of the VT members living there or VTers whom have visited know if the Havenstreet Steam Railway is still going? I have not been back for over 20 years and curious what the old place looks like. I even remember going over to Afton Down in a butchers van to see the Isle Of Wight Pop Festival, I was only 11 so just drove by and heard Tiny Tim playing and Hendrix started to play as we were driving away.

Havenstreet Steam Railway is still going strong.The Isle of Wight pop festival is back and getting more popular every year.Why dont you come back for a trip?

Im a resident i.o.w vt'er. How you doing, you should check the music festival out it was pretty good this year. If you come back for a holiday or something then may to july is best all the land was dry and brown by late july and august, global warmiong is taking effect!! I will be off to australia for a year in october which am looking forward too, if you have any questions about the island just ask and i will do my best to answer.

I returned after 26 years...and it was MAGIC!
